Welcome

Maybe you’re new to witchcraft and paganism. Maybe you’ve practiced for years and want to know where your traditions really come from. Maybe you just fell down a rabbit hole about mandrake roots. All of those are good reasons to be here.

You don’t need to believe anything, join anything, or buy anything to use this library. You only need curiosity, and a little patience for the difference between what’s documented and what’s believed.

How the Library Is Organized

  • Start Here: introductions for anyone new.

  • The Knowledge Library: religions, gods, occult history, and folklore. The why behind the practice.

  • The Wheel of the Year: the eight high days and this year’s calendar.

  • The Practitioner’s Library: The Apothecary, The Symbolarium, and The Observatory. The materials, symbols, and methods.

  • The Research Desk: Myth vs. History, research guides, and the encyclopedia.

  • Storyteller’s Corner: fiction, case files, haunted history, and reviews, always labeled as fiction or nonfiction.

How to Read an Entry

Most reference entries are divided into labeled parts, so you always know what kind of information you’re reading:

  • Documented History: what the records actually show.

  • Traditional Folklore: what ordinary people believed, and where and when.

  • Religious & Spiritual Tradition: its place within a specific religion.

  • Academic Interpretation: what scholars conclude.

  • Contemporary Claims: modern practice and associations, labeled as modern.

Look for the safety note near the top of any entry about plants, oils, or minerals, the sources at the bottom, and the last reviewed date.

Before You Begin

  • No single tradition is “correct” here. The library documents many and promotes none.

  • “Modern” isn’t an insult. Living traditions grow. We just label what’s new as new.

  • Some practices aren’t open to everyone. Entries on closed traditions explain them without inviting you in.

  • Safety comes first with plants, oils, smoke, and stones. Read Magical Material Safety before you handle anything.

  • You’ll find mistakes. When you do, tell us.
