Asian Horror
Main Theme: The Persistence of the Unresolved
Introduction
In much of East and Southeast Asian horror, the past does not stay buried. Wrongs demand recognition. Spirits return not for chaos, but for balance. The terror lies in inevitability — the slow, patient arrival of consequence.
There is also a deep discomfort with modernity: technology as conduit, urban isolation, social repression. Elevators, videotapes, cramped apartments — all become thresholds.
The horror whispers: You cannot outrun what you have failed to reconcile.
